BET Select Contestants For Top Actor Africa Season 2

BET have announced the list of 12 contestants for Season 2 of the Reality TV show, Top Actor Africa, that is set to crown the next big thing in Africa’s movie industry.

The actors were selected after months of auditions across the continent with representatives from West, South and East Africa. The actors will be involved in rigorous acting sessions and take up challenges in various genres of acting including improv, comedy, theatre, soaps, commercial, romance, horror, drama and action. At last a winner will be selected in the reality show which is billed to start airing in February 2016.

The announcement of the list of contestants was made by Thando Nkosi in South Africa who also gave the criteria for winning and what the contestant should expect.

From South Africa was Cape Town’s Shamilla Miller, Durban’s Farrell Drew, and from Johannesburg Marilyn Sekgapane, Jesse Suntele, Hendrik Lombard, Simhle Belinda Plaatjies, and Sabelo Sibeko.
Representing Nigeria are Tobechi Nneji, Uriel Oputa and Ifeanyi Dike, while flying the flag for Kenya are Lorreine Wangui Gakuo and Alexander Eliab Khainga,” Said Nkosi.
These 12 candidates would have to undergo nine acting challenges across all genres whilst working with – and trying to impress – industry experts.
Top Actors Africa will also give the young actors the chance to work with and receive mentor ship from professionals in the local film industry and Hollywood.
The winner will receive US$10,000, a one-year contract “with international representation and access to Hollywood auditions”, and of course, the title of “Top Actor Africa,” following in the footsteps of season one’s winner, Altovise Lawrence. 

The previous winner, Lawrence is currently in the United States filming her first feature film, The Other Side, alongside Brad James and Erica Hubbard. This year’s Top Actor Africa will be hosted by South African movie star Zhikona Sodlaka.
