The Miles Davis Biopic stars Don Cheadle and Ewan McGregor. The film was directed by Cheadle, his first, and his set to hit theatres April 1.
Miles Davis was a legendary jazz artist who was so much more than a entertainer. He changed jazz music and an influence on hip-hop jazz, cool jazz, and bebop. He was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2006.
He attended Julliard briefly before dropping out because he felt the music taught was very “white” and “european-style”. He collaborated with Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, and other noted jazz greats as he made a name for himself on the music scene.
The Birth of Cool was Davis’ more important music projects. He turned down Duke Ellington in order to finish the invention of Cool Jazz. Although the album was not commercial successful, the importance and the real effects of the album were realized years later by critics and artists as music began to evolve.
