Nollywood Actress, Danielle Okeke Chastise Nigerians Over Reaction To French Tragedy

Danielle Okeke

While the world is currently mourning the French terrorist attacks, Nollywood actress, Danielle Okeke, is “pissed” at Nigerians for showing solidarity with France over the attacks on social media. She is terming it as “hypocrisy”.

Danielle Okeke took to her instagram page to point out that Nigerians were more inclined to showing support to foreigners. Rather than, highlighting the sufferings of its citizens at the hands of Boko Haram terrorist in the northern part of Nigeria.

Part of the message on her post reads;

How many times have you offered prayers for Nigeria, shown support for the country in this trying times or changed your dp to the Green and white national colours to identify with your country on the Boko haram insurgency that has been on for over 5 years now? In what way have you shown concern about the plight ‎of people in the north east?”

The actress also pointed out (wrongly) that the world has not really shown concern to the plights of the Chibok girls and other social ills in Nigeria.

Although, she does have a valid point in referencing the “fact” that Nigerians tend to blame the government for “everything.” Unlike the trend in the Western World where their citizens back their government when issues like the French tragedy occurs. But, her approach is totally wrong.

While I admire her courage to air out her view on this issues. the timing is just wrong. It would have been a lot better to highlight Nigeria’s reaction and advocate for more support for the IDPs in Nigeria and other African countries.

Maybe if Danielle Okeke had posted the pictures advocating support for Nigeria first instead of  an instagram post about the French tragedy (which might be offensive to you if posted here) first, then she would have had a more positive effect with her posts.

Terrorism is a global scourge that has no respect for age, race, class, beliefs and idealogy. So regardless of who it affects, it should be condemned.
Our hearts goes out to the families who lost their loved ones and those who are still injured. #SayNoTerrorism #Wura.

??? How many times have you offered prayers for Nigeria, shown support for the country in this trying times or changed your dp to the Green and white national colours to identify with your country on the Boko haram insurgency that has been on for over 5 years now? In what way have you shown concern about the plight of people in the north east? What about the missing ChibokGirls? Why didn't you pray for them? Instead ye all went saying #bringbackourgirls targeting #GEJ Did you see any individual, political party or a group in France calling a press conference to blame their President/Government for the tragedy? If it were to be here (God forbid bad thing) ye all should have been blaming #PMB and #PDP /#APC by now. Now ask yourself…… How many times has Mark Zuckerberg's facebook given you the opportunity to change your profile picture and show support for the boko haram victims in the manner they did for France today or are they less humans? Ain't saying you shouldn't pray for Paris or show your support for them but just DON'T BE STUPID and try changing your dp to the Nigeria flag or pic mix your photo with the coat of arm as we ain't gat an eiffel tower here, show support for the North Eastern people and remember to pray for them too. #Pray4Nigeria May the souls of the Bokoharam victims, ISIS victims and that of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. #PrayForYourLeaders #PrayForNigeria #PrayForAfrica #PrayForTheWorld
