Nigerian actress, Halima Abubakar, is not happy with Nigerian movie practitioners because of their alleged “back biting” attitude.
The actress in a recent interview, revealed that the Nigerian movie industry is filled with envy. As actors and actresses often feel threatened when they see their colleagues coming up.
According to her:
“I am in an industry where people find it hard to congratulate you when there is good news. I often celebrate others and I am aware that not everyone can be like me. Most of my colleagues do not congratulate themselves whenever a feat has been achieved. I do not wait for people’s commendation because it will not fetch me money.”
Halima Abubakar, who has been involved in a couple of controversies ( especially on social media) went further to explain that most of her colleagues only feign love when they need you.
“I appreciate those who do and I do not care about the rest who do not. Some of my colleagues are capable of blocking every avenue of opportunity that comes my way. I pay attention to those who do not clap when I win because they are the ones I must avoid. These same people will invite you to their movie set and act as though they are your true friends.”
Well, every industry has issues like this, so it’s better to just play your part and let issues like this go. Because like Nicki Minaj
said, “People will love and support you only when it is beneficial.”
