Olamide has been named as the hottest artiste in Nigeria for the year 2015 by the panel on the MTV Base special #BaseNaijaHottestArtist. This comes following a two day debate as a result of his success, consistency, and the quality of his brand in the year under review.
This is not much of a surprise as Olamide has been very consistent in the last 5 years and even released two critically acclaimed albums, 2 Kings and Eyan Mayweather, in 2015.
Furthermore, the rapper has grown into an astute entertainment businessman as he successful pushed two of his artistes under his label to superstardom in less than 2 years. This is a great achievement given the peculiarity of the Nigerian entertainment scene.
Don Jazzy also acknowledged the success of the rapper in 2015
The Mtv base panel that ranked ten of the hottest artists in Nigeria for the year 2015 were OAPs Omalicha, Do2dtun, Olisa Adibua, Shade Ladipo, journalist Osagie Alonge, DJ Spinall and Mtv’s in house VJ,Ehiz.
The newly crowned hottest Nigerian artiste, Olamide, wasted no time in acknowledging the honour. he said;
“It’s a great feeling to know that my work has made so much impact on Nigerians and i’m humbled by this announcement. Thank you MTV Base.”
Wizkid, who also made great moves in 2015, was placed at number 2, followed by Davido and Patoranking. Although, I feel Phyno should have been in the top 5 list which is the one aspect I think the panel erred in their analysis.
The show ranks the year’s ten biggest performing artists in Nigeria using a list of six criteria namely: Style, Impact, Sales/Success, Buzz, Music and Intangibles.
