It’s been a long time coming (and it’s still coming), but closer now – The Tupac biopic!
As excited as we are to see the late rap legend’s story come to life, we are almost (I said almost) more excited to see who gets to play Tupac Shakur!
But the wait is over. And although it’s no face we’ve ever seen before, the striking resemblance to Tupac could make anyone do a double take when they see Demetrius Shipp, Jr.
The new name to showbiz will be receiving his big break as the star of Shakur’s upcoming highly-anticipated All Eyez On Me which is underway at Morgan Creek Productions.
Shipp will appear alongside Jamal Woodard, the same person who played Biggie Smalls (which was also his big break role) in the biopic Notorious (2009).
Tupac’s biopic, which is being directed by music video genius, Benny Boom, is expected to cover the late rapper’s entire life, including his murder in 1996.
Production sources report that Shipp’s father worked in the music biz, and actually crossed paths with Tupac when Demetrius was a kid, and he’s been a huge fan ever since. (Destiny perhaps?)
When producer L.T. Hutton approached Shipp, Jr. to star as Tupac because of the unfailing similarities in physical features, he was not entirely up to par in the acting part.
However, taking an acting class 4 times a week polished the Tupac-to-be, and now productions are said to have begun last week in Atlanta!
