Wizkid talks music and career choice in the upcoming The Fader Magazine.
There is no Nigerian artiste that is as big as Wizkid on the international market at the moment, and the Nigerian pop star has taken his brand a notch higher as he became the first Nigerian entertainer to be featured on Fader Magazine.
Wizkid’s list of international collaboration would make most African acts green with envy. And, the petite artiste revealed in his interview for the December edition of The Fader that his reason for choosing music is not for “Winning awards” but for the love he has for the craft.
His hit song, “Ojuelegba,” earned him a collaboration with Hotline Bling singer, Drake, endorsement from both Swizzbeatz and Alicia Keys, alongside numerous nomination all over the world. Wizkid in the yet to be released magazine, stated that he never expected the song to go that viral even though he knew before hand that the song was really good.
I knew ‘Ojuelegba’ was a good song, but I didn’t expect it to blow up the way that it did.”
Wizkid will be performing at Alicia Keys’ annual Keep a Child Alive Charity event to raise awareness for HIV/AIDS and is set to release his 3rd album in the first quarter of 2016.
